Your Personal Data

In this Personal Data Protection Policy, “Personal Data” refers to any data and/or information about you which you can be identified by either (a) from that data; or (b) from that data and other information to which you may have legitimate access to. Examples of such Personal Data include but are not limited to:

  1. Your personal information such as your name, date of birth, nationality, passport or other identification number and any other information relating to you which you have provided in any forms you may have submitted to use, or in other forms of interaction with you;
  2. Your contact information such as postal address(es), email address(es), phone numbers;
  3. Your present employment such as company name, company address, company registration number, business telephone and fax numbers, industry type and position;
  4. Your professional interest subjects;
  5. Your directorship of other company (ies);
  6. Your membership fees.

Generally, we may collect your Personal Data through the following ways and purposes:

  1. When you sign up with us for MIoD membership;
  2. When you access our website;
  3. When you apply to us for membership services and benefits;
  4. When you purchase goods and/or services which we may offer to you or you may require from us;
  5. When you ask to be contacted regarding your enquiries and/or feedback;
  6. When you respond to our initiatives or promotions;

Purposes for the Collection, Use and Disclosure of Your Personal Data

  1. To manage your membership including recruitment, processing and termination of your membership with us;
  2. To provide you with membership benefits and services that we and/or business partners provide, or on behalf;
  3. To provide you with Board Appointment Services;
  4. To provide you with training;
  5. To assist you with your enquiries;
  6. To process payment for your membership or any other purchases and subscriptions;
  7. To help us improve our services to you;
  8. To conduct research, survey and interviews;
  9. To keep you updated on our events;
  10. In relation to your registration for our Learning Series training courses, events, seminars, workshops and/or conferences;
  11. To conduct statistical studies and analysis by us on our behalf;

MIoD will take reasonable steps to protect your Personal Data against unauthorized disclosure. Subject to the provisions of any applicable law, your Personal Data may be provided, for the purposes listed above (where applicable), to the following entities or parties, whether they are located in Myanmar or overseas:

  1. Our professional advisers such as auditors
  2. Relevant government regulators, statutory boards or authorities or law enforcement agencies to comply with any laws, rules, guidelines and regulations or schemes imposed by any government authority;
  3. Third party reward, loyalty, privileges and co-branded program providers;
  4. Business partners that provide any membership services and benefits; and
  5. Any other person in connection with the purposes set forth above.
Use of cookies

When you interact with us on our website, we automatically receive and record information on our server logs from your browser.

  1. We may collect or analyze anonymized information from which individuals cannot be identified (“Aggregate Information”), such as the number of users and their frequency of use, the number of page views that occur on our website and common entry and exit points into our website;

MIoD will take reasonable efforts to protect Personal Data in our procession or our control by making reasonable security arrangements to prevent unauthorized access, collection, use, disclosure, copying, modification, disposal or similar risks. However, we cannot completely guarantee the security of any Personal Data we may have collected from you or about you, or that for example no harmful code will enter our website (for example viruses, bugs, trojan horses, spyware or adware). You should be aware of the risks associated with using the website.

While we strive to protect your Personal Data, we cannot ensure the security of the information you transmit to us via the Internet, and we urge you to take every precaution to protect your Personal Data when you are on the Internet.
