The MIoD Leadership Series is designed to provide insights, knowledge and thought leadership to enable board directors and senior management to stay abreast of evolving challenges and trends and pursue continual learning to remain effective leaders.

Professor Dr. Aung Tun Thet is a Founding Patron of the Myanmar Institute of Directors and an Advisor to the Republic of the Union of Myanmar Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry (UMFCCI).

He is Professor Emeritus at Yangon University of Economics, a Visiting Professor at Payap University in Chiangmai, Thailand as well as an Honorary Professor at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He is a Former Principal Officer, UN Systems Staff College in Turin, Italy.

Professor Dr. Aung Tun Thet holds a number of degrees including B.Com. (YGN); Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies (Brighton, UK): M.Sc. (Warwick, UK); Ph.D. (UMIST, UK); Post-doctoral Fellow (Germany).

Daw Kyawt Kay Thi Win is a management professional with more than eighteen years of progressive experience in the development, public and private sectors. Having worked in various senior management roles in local and international organisations, she has led the Business Coalition for Gender Equality Association as Country Director since its foundation in 2018. She has developed a sustainable business model of workplace gender equality, which guides organisations in developing a clear vision of their diversity, equity and inclusion journey towards sustainable business. The Know Your WGE Assessment Kyawt Kay Thi Win established is the first workplace gender equality assessment in the country, which guides organisations to understand the opportunities, strengths, gaps and areas to improve in fostering equitable and inclusive workplaces.

She is a thought leader and a strong advocate of DEI, defining the association as the centre of excellence and a trusted advisor on unconscious bias, social and cultural norms, stereotypes, workplace gender equality, diversity and inclusion in Myanmar. Kyawt Kay Thi Win has become a strong voice for the business sector agenda on DEI, winning the Women Icons Network’s Asia D&I Champion Award 2022. She is the president of the ASEAN Human Development Organisation, Myanmar Chapter, and sits on the Advisory Board of Myanmar Sustainable Business Network.

Daw Maw Maw Tun stands as a preeminent figure in the realm of HR, renowned for her profound expertise in strategic HR practices and an astute comprehension of Myanmar’s intricate market dynamics. With over 15 years of diverse experience across international organizations, including diplomatic roles and over 5 years as Director of Administration and HR Management in the private sector, her meticulous HR policies have empowered business and led to the establishment of TOP HR Solutions in 2014 and started providing HR services to many local and international organizations.

In 2015, she founded Myanmar Career Bridge Academy (MCBA), empowering thousands with job-ready skills for socio-economic sustainability. Her published works on Labour Laws in 2019 are testament to her impact as an HR practitioner and entrepreneur.

Wah Wah Min is an experienced trainer, consultant, and responsible business leader with a strong track record in entrepreneurship, recruitment consultancy, training, and corporate governance. She is the Founder and Managing Director of Kaung Lin Khant Co., Ltd, operating under the brand Skills for Success, which has been delivering ethical and affordable HR and training services to Myanmar SMEs since 2018.

Her leadership is rooted in responsible business values—emphasizing anti-corruption, data privacy, fair pricing, non-discrimination, and environmental sustainability. She is a committed advocate for ethical leadership, transparency, and compliance with laws and regulations.

Wah Wah Min has served as a Trainer and Consultant in Corporate Governance with the Myanmar Institute of Directors (MIoD) since 2019, facilitating director-level governance programs. She has also contributed as a trainer and consultant in social enterprise initiatives with British Council Myanmar and supported ILO-led SME development projects.

In addition to her training role, Wah Wah Min is actively engaged in advancing gender inclusion and SME capacity development through consultancy work with IFC, Vision Fund (World Vision), and Intellecap (India). She plays an active leadership role as a Central Executive Committee Member of the Myanmar Women Entrepreneur Association (MWEA), promoting governance, compliance, and inclusive economic participation.

Throughout her career, Kim has worked extensively in external audit and financial services in New Zealand and London, specializing in enhancing internal controls and fostering high-performing, agile teams.

As the founder of K. Academy, a capacity-building initiative in Myanmar, Kim is committed to upskilling professionals in the banking and finance sectors, focusing on board and senior management training.   Daw Thiri Thant Mon is the Director of Investor Relations for Climate Investment, a private equity firm based in London, UK focused on investing in decarbonisation technologies.  She also serves as Executive Director of the Myanmar Institute of Directors which is Myanmar’s corporate governance body and trustee for Turquoise Mountain Foundation, a UK charity that focuses on heritage preservation countries such as Afghanistan and Myanmar.  She has held a number of leadership roles over her 20 year career as a finance and capital markets professional.  Before returning to Myanmar in 2013, she was a capital markets investment banker with Morgan Stanley in London helping institutional clients raise multi-billion dollar financings. Upon her return, she was a member of the executive committee and Head of Corporate Development at Yoma Strategic Holdings.  She founded Pegu Partners – previously named Sandanila – a capital and investment advisory firm, in 2015.  Thiri started her career in 2000 in the US with Capital One.  Thiri has a strong interest in building societal vibrancy and sustainability and is the organiser of TEDxYangon.  She holds a BA in Economics from William & Mary and an MBA from the London Business School.
