ABOUT THE WEBINAR

It is well-recognized globally, and in Asia, that engaged employees drive business results. So much so that there is agreement among top executives and consultants alike that measuring employee engagement is a must-do in the best of times. We will explore how listening to your employees can benefit companies, management, and employees, especially when the going gets tough.  And we ask ourselves: What role should independent directors play?

Ferdinand de Bakker, a council member at the Singapore Institute of Directors and an adjunct lecturer at Nanyang Technological University Singapore, and Marieke van Raaij, Regional Employee Engagement Solutions Leader Asia, Pacific, IMETA, LATAM at the HR consulting firm Mercer, will share the results of a global qualitative study as well as local research studies, and their conclusions and recommendations.

Participants may wish to read ahead the report written by Mr. de Bakker titled “Recharging Employee Engagement: Management and communication synergy” which can be found on the link https://bit.ly/3vWIn7c

ABOUT THE WEBINAR

This webinar is about the Metis Resilience concept, which combines insights from research by Metis Services’ partner psychologist Niclas Wisén’s PhD research on managing stress in extreme situations with the tactical tools for leading and performing under pressure developed by Metis Services.

The concept is battle-proven, tried and tested at healthcare intensive care units (ICUs) in Sweden during the Covid-19 pandemic. It’s been featured in both daily and periodical press. Metis Services has delivered bespoke solutions and pre-deployment training concepts since 2016.

About the Webinar

This is a group session to explore how stressful situations can impact the brain’s ability to focus and affect our mental and physical health. Mr. Ian Davies of Team Thinking Asia along with his colleague U Daniel Leme will speak about the positive impact that brain-based approaches to leadership can have on the wellbeing of people in periods of change and uncertainty. The session will be conducted in both English and Myanmar languages.

By the end of this session, we aim for you to have some ideas to:

  • Support yourself and your team during challenging times.
  • Understand some brain-friendly approaches to develop personal resilience.
  • Take-away a few practical tools to help you and your team to be calmer and more focused.

Please note that this is not a counselling session, but an opportunity to get together and explore ways that we can all cope better in challenging times.

ABOUT THE WEBINAR

This webinar is hosted by the Myanmar Institute of Directors (MIoD) with kind sponsorship from Othrys, a strategic security and advisory business. Presenter Mr. John Taylor will speak about leadership styles and how they can be applied in times of stress and conflict. He will review the trend among many authorities on the subject who are now promoting humility rather than charisma as the essential mindset of a leader in business or government.
