We would like to let you know that we are postponing or utilising online resources for all our trainings and events for the month of March and April 2020.
As more and more companies recommend that employees videoconference or work from home rather than meet face-to-face, we felt it was our duty to extend the same protections to our board, stakeholders and members during this uncertain period, while we are still learning and adapting to new ways of interacting and operating events responsibly given the public health crisis we are facing today with the Covid-19 situation.
Based on Myanmar government’s new measures and in a time of social distancing and isolation, the spirit of community is more important than ever. If we cannot meet in person, MIOD will work to bring our community together in other ways utilising technology. At MIOD we are embracing the coming months as an opportunity for exploring the new ideas we don’t always have time to pursue when we are producing an action-packed calendar of events and trainings.

Additionally, I have instructed the staff to create a rotational schedule of working from home and attending the office to ensure that there is always someone at MIOD office to address our members’ issues and concerns.

The Myanmar Institute of Directors (MIoD) CEO met with Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) Director General U Thant Sin Lwin to discuss how MIOD and DICA can collaborate on works to promote a corporate governance reform in Myanmar through training and awareness programs in the country.

To celebrate International Women’s Day, the Myanmar Institute of Directors (MIOD) and AMCHAM Myanmar jointly hosted a Breakfast Talk focusing on the role of women in corporate governance.
In the beginning, the concept of corporate governance was introduced, and its positive influence on professionalism inside companies and organizations elaborated. The panel then stressed the importance of including women in leading positions in companies, not based on their gender, but based on productivity potential that is not utilized in an unbalanced workforce or board composition. Further, the importance of mentorship for upcoming leaders and future board members was discussed, for example, providing more opportunities to sit-in board meetings and observe how formal procedures are executed and decisions are made.
MIoD would thank the panelists and all event attendees for sharing their knowledge and experiences.
Myanmar Institute of Directors (MIoD) joint event with the India-Myanmar Chamber of Commerce (IMCC) and the Myanmar Hong Kong Chamber of Commerce and Industry
Ma Cherry Trivedi, CEO of MIoD presented a corporate briefing on Corporate Governance on February 17th at India in Myanmar (Embassy of India, Yangon). The meeting was attended by over 30 professionals.
Initial MIoD Trainers’ Meeting in February 2020 and delighted to be re-engaged with all the cadre trainers of the Myanmar Institute of Directors. MIoD would also like to acknowledge the hard work, efforts, and commitment of MIoD trainers during 2019 and until now, which has underscored the growth and success of the MIoD and Myanmar Private Sector Development. Thank entire trainers for joining the meeting in person and via dialling channels.
