Learning Series: Director Certification Program Batch 8 December 16 - 18, 2022
The Batch 8 of the MIoD’s Director Certification Program (DCP) started on 16th December 2022 as a 3-day in person Program at the Novotel Yangon Max.
MIoD’s Chair Daw Win Win Tint kicked off the 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 and later facilitated the first session on 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 followed by 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠. MIoD’s Faculty, Daw Thuzar Win presented the 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬. The attendees also learnt 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 from Dr. Tun Thura Thet while Daw Min Min Ayer Naing shared the insightful knowledge on 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 concerning corporate governance in Myanmar, particularly director’s rights and duties, and disclosure.
Around 30 participants, mostly directors, board members and senior management of Myanmar companies joined the Program.
Directorship Series: Preparing for Your First Directorship October 29, 2022

The first instalment of the 𝐃𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐬 was delivered today on the topic “𝗣𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝘀𝘁 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽” comprised of a presentation in Myanmar that lays out the key learning points, followed by a webinar in English where senior global board professionals sharing their deep expertise and answering questions from attendees.

A huge thanks to our panellists; 𝗠𝘀. 𝗧𝘂𝗿𝗶𝗱 𝗘𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗲𝘁𝗵 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝘃𝗮𝗻𝗴, CEO from FutureBoards AS, 𝗗𝗿. 𝗥𝗼𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗠. 𝗕𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗿, Director of Policy and Governance from Institute of Directors, 𝗠𝘀. 𝗠𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗮𝗴 𝗗𝗼𝗶𝗴, Head of Alumni Career Centre from London Business School sharing an insightful experience on the preparation and motivations of becoming a board director and the available resources for the board directors to ensure they are staying abreast of their skills and responsibilities.

MIoD Leadership Series: Emotional Culture in the Workplace August 25, 2022
The second instalment of the 𝘓𝘦𝘢𝘥𝘦𝘳𝘴𝘩𝘪𝘱 𝘴𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴 was delivered by the well-known and well-respected 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗳. 𝗗𝗿. 𝗔𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗧𝘂𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘁 on the topic of “𝗘𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗖𝘂𝗹𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲” on August 25, 2022.
A huge thanks to our speaker for presenting insightful knowledge on the importance of emotional culture which plays an important role in the workplaces and deeply matters and need to be developed by elevating empathy, compassion, respect, kindness, patience, understanding, honesty and trust.
We also thank around 90 attendees who joined today’s session, especially for contributing many thoughtful questions.

Director Certification Program 7th Batch August 18 - 20, 2022

The first day of the MIoD’s Director Certification Program (DCP), Batch 7 started on 18th August 2022 as a 3-day program at the Novotel Yangon Max.

MIoD’s Chair 𝗗𝗮𝘄 𝗪𝗶𝗻 𝗪𝗶𝗻 𝗧𝗶𝗻𝘁 kicked off the opening address and Chair of the MIoD’s Learning Committee, 𝐌𝐬. 𝐕𝐢𝐜𝐤𝐲 𝐁𝐨𝐰𝐦𝐚𝐧 facilitated the first session on corporate governance, and the business case followed by MIoD’s facilitator, 𝐃𝐚𝐰 𝐓𝐡𝐮𝐳𝐚𝐫 𝐖𝐢𝐧 on the roles and responsibilities of effective boards. The attendees also learned board composition and structure facilitated by 𝐃𝐚𝐰 𝐖𝐚𝐡 𝐖𝐚𝐡 𝐌𝐢𝐧 as well as the legal provisions concerning corporate governance in Myanmar, particularly director’s rights and duties, and disclosure from 𝐌𝐫. 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐟𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐩𝐦𝐚𝐧 and 𝐔 𝐒𝐮𝐧 𝐖𝐢𝐧 shared insightful knowledge on Listing Criteria and Listing Rules for Listed Companies.

Governance for Directors Program July 27 and 28, 2022

The MIoD organised the Governance for Directors Program on 27th and 28th July 2022 as a Zoom Online Program. The Chair of the MIoD’s Learning Committee kicked off with an Opening Remarks.

During this Program the attendees were able to learn the basic corporate governance principles and why they are important for Myanmar companies, the role, structure, and function of the board of directors, best practices to improve management control functions, including audit, risk, and internal control and other pertinent governance topics such as shareholder rights, conduct, and disclosure.

Board/Company Secretary Program 4th Batch June 28 - 29, 2022
The 𝐁𝐚𝐭𝐜𝐡 𝟒 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝/𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐒𝐞𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 begun on 28th June 2022 as 1.5 days in-person program at Melia Yangon. The 𝐂𝐡𝐚𝐢𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐌𝐈𝐨𝐃’𝐬 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭𝐭𝐞𝐞 kicked off an Opening Remarks.
The sessions then started with the “𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐂𝐆)” which explained the basics of corporate governance with the framework followed by “𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐅𝐫𝐚𝐦𝐞𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐂𝐆 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐢𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝐌𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐦𝐚𝐫” presenting Directors Duties according to MCL with the reporting and disclosure. The session later continued with “Building an Effective Board” focusing on Board Composition, Roles, Committees and Evaluations.
