He is Professor Emeritus at Yangon University of Economics, a Visiting Professor at Payap University in Chiangmai, Thailand as well as an Honorary Professor at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. He is a Former Principal Officer, UN Systems Staff College in Turin, Italy.

Professor Dr. Aung Tun Thet holds a number of degrees including B.Com. (YGN); Post Graduate Diploma in Management Studies (Brighton, UK): M.Sc. (Warwick, UK); Ph.D. (UMIST, UK); Post-doctoral Fellow (Germany).

‘Servant/First’ Leadership is leadership style which is contrary to traditional understanding of leadership. It requires authenticity and humility on the part of leaders.
