The Batch 5 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱/𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 took place on 25th – 26th February 2023 as 1.5 days in-person program at the Novotel Yangon Max.

On Day 1, MIoD’s Faculty, Daw Thuzar Win delivered 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝘁𝗼 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗚𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 (𝗖𝗚) followed by Daw Thaw Dar Sein on the 𝗠𝘆𝗮𝗻𝗺𝗮𝗿’𝘀 𝗟𝗲𝗴𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗖𝗚 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲. The session was later continued by Daw Kim Chawsu on the topics of 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 as well as the 𝗥𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘆. Day 1 was concluded by U Thura Ko Ko facilitated on 𝗥𝘂𝗻𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝗻 𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗰𝗰𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗳𝘂𝗹 𝗔𝗚𝗠𝘀 including real-life experiences.

Day 2 continued by U Myo Min facilitating 𝘄𝗵𝘆 𝗴𝗼𝗼𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗴𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗲𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗕𝗼𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗰𝗿𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀. It was followed by 𝗣𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝘂𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻 between Functional Expertises sharing upon knowledge and real-life experiences useful for the path of being Board Secretary. Daw Kim Chawsu later reviewed 𝗧𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗿𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹𝘀. The attendees later worked together in 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙥𝙨 on the case study. Day 2 was completed with the 𝗖𝗲𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 by Dr. Su Hla Han, Board member of MIoD and recorded with the 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗽 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼.

The fourth instalment of the Leadership series was delivered today by the well-known and well-respected Prof. Dr. Aung Tun Thet on the topic of “Leading with Purpose” on February 23, 2023.

𝗠𝗜𝗼𝗗 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 & 𝗗𝗖𝗣 𝗔𝗹𝘂𝗺𝗻𝗶 𝗡𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁 was held at Chatrium Hotel Royal Lake Yangon on 18th February 2023 where around 60 MIoD Members, Alumni of Director Certification Program (DCP), Non-Members and Guests actively participated in it.

𝗨 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝗿𝗮 𝗞𝗼 𝗞𝗼, Vice Chair of MIoD made an Opening Speech and Thanking Notes including MIoD’s Updates with results and achievements. 𝗠𝗿. 𝗠𝗲𝗹𝘃𝘆𝗻 𝗣𝘂𝗻, Board member of MIoD shared the valuable knowledge upon his experiences followed by the representatives of MIoD members and DCP Alumni, 𝗗𝗮𝘄 𝗞𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗪𝗮𝗶 𝗧𝗵𝘄𝗲, 𝗨 𝗦𝗼𝗲 𝗠𝗼𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻, 𝗨 𝗦𝗼𝗲 𝗞𝗼 𝗞𝗼 and 𝗗𝗮𝘄 𝗧𝗵𝘂𝘇𝗮𝗿 𝗪𝗶𝗻 for sharing their experiences and journey with MIoD.
Later, 𝗨 𝗔𝘂𝗻𝗴 𝗠𝘆𝗮𝘁 𝗞𝗵𝗮𝗶𝗻𝗴, Board member of MIoD, presented Floral Gifts to Faculties and Guest Speakers for working together to come to this point. All the attendees enjoyed the Special Lucky Draw Program at the end of the session.

The third instalment of the Directorship series was delivered today by Daw Thiri Thant Mon​, Executive Director of MIoD, on the topic of “𝐈𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐨𝐝𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐭𝐨 𝐄𝐒𝐆 (𝐄𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐥, 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞)” on January 28, 2023.

The Audit Committee for Directors Program begun on 21st January 2023 as two days in-person Program at Meliá Yangon. The Board member of MIoD, Dr. Su Hla Han, kicked off an Opening Remarks. 

The Program was started by the MIoD’s Faculty, Daw Kim Chawsu, on the Introduction session and Daw Thuzar Win covered the Corporate Governance and the Role of the Board. The attendees played an online exercise by choosing a character in the office and complete tasks without compromising the integrity and presented their findings as well as other engaging case studies. It was later followed by Daw Kim Chawsu on the sessions, Audit Committee Fundamentals and Risk Governance and Internal Controls. 

Day 2 of the 𝗔𝘂𝗱𝗶𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗗𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘀 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 resumed on 22nd January 2023 with MIoD’s Faculty, Daw Thin Thin Myat on Internal Audit and Compliance together with a case study. The session was then followed by Daw Kim Chawsu on Audit Committee: Dynamics, Conduct, Ethics, and Integrity as well as Financial Reporting and External Audit. The attendees later worked together in 𝙂𝙧𝙤𝙪𝙥𝙨 on a Case Study of Lehman Brothers. She also did a knowledge sharing on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance). The Program was concluded by bringing it all together to benefit the Organization.

The Batch 8 of the MIoD’s Director Certification Program (DCP) started on 16th December 2022 as a 3-day in person Program at the Novotel Yangon Max.
MIoD’s Chair Daw Win Win Tint kicked off the 𝗢𝗽𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗔𝗱𝗱𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀 and later facilitated the first session on 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐆𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 followed by 𝐅𝐚𝐦𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐁𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐏𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠. MIoD’s Faculty, Daw Thuzar Win presented the 𝐑𝐨𝐥𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐛𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐞 𝐁𝐨𝐚𝐫𝐝𝐬. The attendees also learnt 𝐄𝐧𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐞 𝐑𝐢𝐬𝐤 𝐌𝐚𝐧𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 from Dr. Tun Thura Thet while Daw Min Min Ayer Naing shared the insightful knowledge on 𝐋𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬 concerning corporate governance in Myanmar, particularly director’s rights and duties, and disclosure.
Around 30 participants, mostly directors, board members and senior management of Myanmar companies joined the Program.

Day 2 of the Director Certification Program resumed on 17th December 2022 with Directors, Disclosure and Reporting by Mr. Nicolas Delange later followed by the session Responsible and Responsive Board Leadership.

Daw Kyi Kyi Khin Swe shared insightful knowledge on the Listing Criteria for Listed Companies while U Myo Min facilitated on Reflections on four years of the Myanmar Companies Law and MyCo. Daw May Pale gave an Overview of General Reinsurance Market that Directors in Myanmar needs to be aware of.

Day 2 is completed with the session Board Composition and Structure by Daw Wah Wah Min covering Board composition, Board objectivity and director independence, Board committees and their functioning, and board dynamics followed by Board Effectiveness focusing on the four pillars influencing effective Boards.

Day 3 was all about the finance basics that Directors need to understand covered by MIoD’s Faculty, Daw Kim Chawsu, including an 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗶𝗲𝘄 𝗼𝗳 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗽𝗼𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲, and what 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀 do and don’t tell you. This was followed by 𝗙𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀 including common sized financial statements and ratios. The attendees also learned about the 𝗔𝗰𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝘂𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝘀 by Daw Thin Thin Myat.

After taking a short test of the corporate governance knowledge which had been covered in the sessions, MIoD’s Faculty, Daw Thuzar Win reflected on the topics covered in the course and raise points and questions about what they mean for corporate governance in Myanmar today as well as opportunities to take the personal learning journey about corporate governance, and tools and resources shared. 

The certified directors were then awarded their certificates and concluded the day with a group photo.
