MIOD Networking/End-of-Year Party was held in Sule Shangri-La Hotel on 10th December 2019 where nearly 80 MIoD Members, Non-Members, and Special Guests actively participated in it. MIoD Trainer and Outstanding MWEA award 2019 & Outstanding ASEAN Women Entrepreneur Award 2019 winner Ms. Wah Wah Min who is also Founder and Managing Director at Skills-for-success opened the Event.

Finance director internal auditors, senior executives and Corporate Governance practitioners from 12 companies and government agencies attended MIoD’s 2-day Internal Audit Master Program on October 30th – 31st, 2019.

Day 1 of the program started with opening remark by U Tun Myat from Yoma Bank followed with Internal Audit Overview by Ms. Kate Lazarus from International Finance Corporation (IFC) and why it is important for any organization to have an independent and well-functioning IA department. The session then continued with Case study about audit risk assessment and annual planning with interesting group presentation and role play exercises.

Day 2 comprises with IT audits best practices and CAATS/Data Analytics Techniques by Ms. Sie Sie Htun from KPMG Myanmar focusing on the importance of data analytics and explore various data analytics technology, software, and tools. Good corporate governance and its benefits were discussed by Mr. Anar Aliyev from IFC. The program then continued with the role of internal audit in sustainable development by Ms. Leyal Savas from IFC. Participants were excitedly participated with internal audit reporting and audit follow-up case study. The program was lightened by Group panel Discussion between Mr. Dominic Notario from MOB Bank, Mr. Tin Htoo Khaing from Access Spectrum Co., Ltd., Mr. Zaw Toe Moe from City Mart and Ms. Kim Chawsu form MIoD about Audit Committee and Senior executives’ expectations from Internal Audit. The program warped up with preparation of participants’ internal audit action plans.

23 director generals, board directors, senior executives and Corporate Governance practitioners from 16 companies and government agencies attended MIoD’s 3-day Director Certification Program 4th Batch on October 1st – 3rd, 2019.

The first day of the DCP started with a deep dive into the fundamentals of the corporate governance framework with the objectives of providing directors opportunities to understand how to ensure effective implementation of governance practices in their companies and examining the role, structure, and function of the board of directors and other pertinent topics such as the legal environment for governance and Corporate Governance landscape in Myanmar.

The second day of the DCP equipped Directors with insights into the finance essentials with the objective of providing Directors with the ability to ask management the right questions on behalf of their shareholders on the firm’s performance as well as accounting fraud, internal controls and enterprise risk management in order to fulfil their role as effective monitors of management on behalf of shareholders.

The third day focus on the various stakeholders that the Directors interact with and how they can create value by developing the skills and knowledge for effective ownership and board membership.

An expert team from MIoD, Dentons Myanmar Limited, World Bank, Willis Towers Watson, EV UTW Advisory Limited, AYA Bank and YSX delivered the workshop with expert facilitators.

Day 1 the Second Batch of MIoD’s “Board/Company Secretary Program” for Company/Board Secretaries and other professionals who are directly involved in board support and board information preparation and presentation to help them provide to their board the best quality board support.

Morning sessions are exciting and getting ideas for enhancing the way of work as a professional Company Secretary as the summary of how-to which skills company secretaries should ideally have to adequately fulfill their role as governance facilitators.

The second-day program discussed in focusing the practical ways of work as a Company Secretary. The Corporate/Company Secretary’s Toolkit was provided to All CS Participants.

As the 2nd Day of MIoD Board Secretary Program, these are the rewards that distinguish the knowledgeable and effective Corporate Secretary. Easy to manage and growing levels of accountability of the Corporate Secretary requires deliberate action such as continuing professional development.

The 2nd batch Corporate/Company Secretary Program has raised the bar higher commensurate to the Corporate Governance industry changes to ensure that with participation you will be brought up to date on knowledge, trends, and standards and be equipped to document and communicate effectively your Board and Governance functions, and be equally judicious in external compliance.
